To end off Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, this week we have two videos created by two Butterfly Run Committee members, Laurie and Juliet.

Laurie is the Events Director for the 2021 Butterfly Run. She is the mother of two twin girls, Emmie and Riley born May 2nd, 2017. Sadly, Emmie passed away shortly after birth. Laurie has been a strong advocate for the Roger Neilson House and has supported the Butterfly Run since the traumatic loss of her daughter Emmie. Please listen to Laurie’s story at the following link.

Juliet is the Sponsorship Director for the 2021 Butterfly Run. Juliet’s son Matty suddenly passed away on December 21st, 2020 following a normal pregnancy. Juliet felt the support her family received from the Roger Neilson House was invaluable. She joined the 2021 Butterfly Run committee to show her gratitude and honour her son’s memory by helping other bereaved parents. Please take the time to listen to Juliet’s story at the following link.

Sharing one’s story is not always easy and takes a tremendous amount of courage. The Butterfly Run knows that speaking openly about our babies can help connect us with our community and make the isolating journey of grief feel less lonely. Sharing our stories can cultivate connections with others who have walked similar paths and understand the heartache that we face. Our stories can even provide hope and healing to ourselves and others that we meet along the way.

We hope that by sharing our stories with you over the past few months we have been able to provide you with opportunities for healing.

Thank you to all of our community members who have graciously shared their stories this year.
