We all have a different reason to volunteer.
Here are a few reasons our Butterfly Run Ottawa Volunteers do what they do:
"I volunteer because I can’t make still birth go away, but I can help make the shame/isolation and stigma around stillbirth go away. "
"I volunteer to make sure the next set of loss parents have more resources and support available to them then I did. "
" I volunteer to help my heart heal by sharing my babies story."
"I volunteer to honour my son, and ensure that other families do not walk a path alone in child loss".
"I volunteer for the Butterfly Run Ottawa because it allows me to surround myself with women who understand what grieving a baby means. It also gives me a chance to give back to the Roger Neilson House which helped my husband and I immensely through our grief after the loss of our son."
"I volunteer as a way to connect with other loss parents and to remember my daughter Eliza. "
"I volunteer to honour my angel babies, and to give back to the community who supported me and my husband in our greatest time of need".
"I want to contribute to building a supportive community for other loss families. Having a safe space to share all the complex feelings and struggles of being a loss parent has meant so much to me and I want to support others on this journey as well."
"The people. When it comes down to it, it's the people. What started off as an interesting volunteer opportunity in 2020... VERY quickly became something so much more. I was, and continue to be, inspired by the team and the community we hope to bring together and advocate for. This community is so darn strong, positive, loving and supportive. Each member inspires me every single day to be better for myself and for others. Like I said, it's the people."
