Why Sponsor the Butterfly Run Ottawa?

It is estimated that 1 in 4 women in the Ottawa area will experience a miscarriage or pregnancy loss, and that 1 in 6 experience infertility. While support exists, programs are often relatively unknown and can be hard to access. The taboo surrounding miscarriage, infant loss, and infertility leaves many individuals and families dealing with their grief in isolation.
The Butterfly Run is the first charity run of its kind in the Ottawa area. The intention of this event is to raise awareness and support for individuals and families who have experienced miscarriage, infant loss, and/or infertility. Individuals and families run or walk to raise money for pediatric palliative care and bereavement programs at Roger Neilson House (RNH), a program of the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). The annual run is coordinated by an Executive Committee of volunteers, many of whom have personally experienced the pain of miscarriage, infant loss, and/or infertility. Being a bereaved parent is a path that no one should walk alone. Your sponsorship will help us support individuals and families in the Ottawa area who experience these devastating losses. What Will We Do With the Proceeds Raised From the Butterfly Run Ottawa?

This is a not-for-profit event and all proceeds raised from The Butterfly Run will be donated to Roger Neilson House (RNH).
The Perinatal Hospice Program at RNH provides support to families whose babies are likely to die before, during, or shortly after birth. Perinatal Hospice includes comprehensive support from the time of diagnosis, through the birth and death of the infant, and into the postpartum period. RNH also offers a Perinatal Loss Bereavement Support Group for parents who have lost a pregnancy over 20 weeks or infant death (up to the first 28 days of life). |
How Will We Use Your Sponsorship?

In previous years, your financial support helps to cover the costs of race day. This includes race signage, kits, and food for the runners and walkers, among many other costs. Your sponsorship will also leverage the efforts of hundreds of individuals and families in Canada who are working to ensure that all parents have support throughout their journey of miscarriage, infant loss, and/or infertility.
