meet our
Excutive Committee

The Butterfly Run Ottawa is organized solely by volunteers and we'd love for you to get to know us a little more!
Julia Winslow,
Co-Chair & Run Director
Picture
Julia has been employed at the RCMP National Forensics Laboratory HQ here in Ottawa for almost 10 years now.  She has completed 6 half marathons, 1 full marathon and more 5/10 kms races then she can keep track of.  She has been an avid runner her whole life, but has loved attending charity races more and more in the last 5 years. The reason Julia is so drawn to helping promote the Butterfly Run is, on January 25, 2015, her and her husband suffered an un-explainable stillbirth with their son Carter at 38 weeks.  A year and 3 days later, they welcomed their wonderful daughter, Madison, to join their family on January 28, 2016.

Anne-Marie Warren,
Co-Chair & RNH Liasion
Picture
Anne-Marie suffered the loss of her sweet daughter Charlotte at 44 days old in October of 2017. Anne-Marie, her husband Tom, and Baby Charlotte went from CHEO's NICU department to Roger Neilson House (RNH); thinking they would only be there for a couple of hours but were blessed to live there for 37 days. Anne-Marie hopes to keep Charlotte's memory alive by supporting others who have suffered pregnancy and/or infant loss and by giving back to RNH for their continued love and support, which has most recently been through the Pregnancy After Loss support group which she attended through her recent pregnancy with her son, Colt.

Chloë Benoit,
Marketing Director
Picture
Chloë is a mother of three. While pregnant with twins, her son Félix was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect. Shortly after his diagnosis she was referred to RNH where she received support and care before and after the birth. Though his life was much too short, she is incredibly grateful for the time she had with Félix. If it weren't for RNH, her time with him would have been very different. For this reason RNH holds a very special place in her heart. She hopes that through sharing Félix’s story, and as Marketing Director, she can help others going through a similar path and give back to RNH.

Erin Brisson,
Silent Auction & Website Director
Picture
Erin is a mom to three beautiful daughters, Madison, Tenley and Sarah. Two days after her due date, they got the devastating news that Sarah's heart stopped beating. She was stillborn the next day from unknown causes. The first day home from the hospital, they received a direct referral to one of the social workers at RNH. They set up a meeting within the same week and participated in the perinatal loss bereavement group shortly after, where Erin met her “warrior sisters”. RNH has had such an impact on their healing journey. She is thankful be part of this incredible team giving back to RNH and for the opportunity to share Sarah's story.

Claire Pagé,
Treasurer
Picture
Claire’s beautiful baby boy Théo was born with a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). Sadly, he passed shortly after his birth, due to complications related to CDH. Since then, RNH has been a huge support to Claire and her husband François, through their Perinatal Loss Bereavement Support Group. Claire hopes to honour her son’s life by raising awareness about pregnancy and infant loss, as well as giving back to RNH.

Brenden Osborne,
Volunteer Director
Picture
Brenden is a first year MD candidate at NUI Galway and is returning to the role of Volunteer Director this year. Brenden joined the run in 2018, and continues to be an active member of the Roger Neilson House community in the role of Child and Family Support Volunteer, and on their Volunteer Advisory Committee. As a uOttawa alumni, Brenden focussed his honours project on perinatal mortality and recurrent high-risk pregnancies in the Placenta Lab. He continues to work with specialists at CHEO and The Ottawa Hospital General Campus to better understand the etiology behind placental dysfunction, and its connection to perinatal loss.

Jasmine Bhatti,
Secretary
Picture
Jasmine is a TMM student at the University of Ottawa and returning in the role of Secretary and Volunteer Director this year. Despite not dealing with child loss or infertility herself, Jasmine is an avid supporter of charities aiming to help families and children in memory of her father who passed away in 2014 from pancreatic cancer. Jasmine has a passion for helping children and is currently working in the CHEO Newborn Screening lab for her honours project. Originally from Toronto, she hopes to become an active member in the Ottawa community and continue to raise awareness and create change.

Leah Day,
Media/Communications Director
Picture
Leah is an Early Childhood Educator and has lived in Ottawa her whole life. She has a Congenital Heart Defect and Noonan’s Syndrome. After a long process to get pregnant and two early miscarriages, Leah and her husband Mike, were thrilled when they found out they were pregnant with their daughter Eliza. Eliza also had a Congenital Heart Defect. Unfortunately due to unknown reasons, Eliza was stillborn at 29 weeks in August 2019. Leah and Mike have received so much support from RNH where they received counselling and attended the Perinatal Loss and Bereavement Support Group. Leah participated in the 2019 Butterfly Run and knew she wanted to be involved in the 2020 run!

David Benoit,
Events Director
Picture
David Benoit is a Project Manager at a Museum in Ottawa. Roger Neilson House came into David's life in 2017 through his sister (Chloë Benoit), after she was referred to RNH when her son Félix was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect. After participating in the Butterfly Run for the past 2 years, David is thrilled to be joining the Executive Committee as the Events Director. He hopes to raise awareness of the programs and support provided to bereaved families at RNH, while honouring his nephew Félix's memory.

Haylee Robert,
Outreach Director
Picture
Haylee is a proud mother to 3 children, Amélie, Martin and Théodore. Her son Martin was born at 19 weeks after nearly a month of unexplainable prenatal complications. Too young to survive but born a fighter, he lived for an hour before his heart beat faded away. New to the Ottawa area from Alberta, Haylee is grateful to have found a circle of understanding peers in a new city. She is excited to team up with the Butterfly Run and share her passion for infant loss advocacy and outreach with the Ottawa community.

Rob and Rachel Samulack,
Political Advocacy

Picture
In 2017 Rachel and Rob Samulack organized the first Ottawa Butterfly Run in memory of their son, Aaron. Aaron was a patient of the perinatal hospice program at Roger Neilson House. He spent 100 precious minutes with his family after birth in June 2016. Rachel and Rob have worked to increase awareness and support for this program and other local infertility, pregnancy and infant loss resources. They have advocated for increased program funding with the provincial government and changes to bereavement leave with the federal government.
