Débora Rodrigues started Babywearing in Canada with a local playgroup and drop-in January 2009 as a means of giving back and giving forward to other parents who needed help in their babywearing journey. Her journey into babywearing started in 2003 when her midwife first introduced her to slings. From there, Débora’s journey has been non-stop, allowing her to become the babywearing advocate she is today.

Babywearing in Canada aims to:

• Support parents;
• Create community - by sharing the babywearing journeys of Canadian parents and celebrating Babywearing in Canada week;
• Provide babywearing education for professionals through continuing education events like the BWIC conference and professional training for consultants;
• Recognize and build excellence in Canada through educator recognition awards; and
• Work with an international network through the Post-Partum and Carrying Professionals Group to increase babywearing education standards.
